Flashback: Sc girls finish as D6 runner ups

TYRONE – What a way to add to a rivalry.
Friday evening February 24th the State College girls went up against rival Altoona for the District 6 Class 6A championship.
After defeating Mifflin County to move on to the title tilt, the Little Lady Lions gave Altoona all it could handle before falling 54-42.
Leading the way for State College was Maya Bokunewicz and Taylor Love both with 11 points on the evening.
The Little Lions got four triples on the night. Jessica Lingenfelter knocked in two while Kelsey Love and Lexi Risha.
Altoona opened the game quickly going on an early 11-4 first quarter run.
The Mountain Lions continued to dominate the first half as they scored 21 points in the second quarter while holding State College to only 12.
When the buzzer sounded on the first half of play, Altoona held a solid 32-16 advantage.
However, the Little Lions would not go out without a fight as it came out of the half and outscored Altoona 15-11, cutting it to 43-27.
But the two teams went into a fourth quarter stalemate as both scored 11 as Altoona went on the capture the D6 title.
However, finishing as a runner up, State College once again qualified for PIAA competition.
