Bellefonte 11-12s capture D5 title

BELLEFONTE – It was a long, hard fought journey for the Bellefonte 11-12 year old All-Stars finished the first part of their post season journey in strong fashion, defeating a tough State College team.
With the 11-1 victory, Bellefonte clinched another District 5 title for its legendary Little League program.
It would be a strong first inning that would spark the “Red and White” as it jumped to a 5-0 lead and never looked back.
State College refused to go away without a fight as it broke up the shut out late in the game.
Leading the offensive charge was the bat of slugger Braedyn Kormanic as he put the visiting team ahead plastering a 3-run home run in the opening stanza.
Despite playing at its own home field, Bellefonte lost the coin toss and were the visiting team.
In the first inning, Bellefonte’s offense got hot in a hurry starting with lead off hitter Alex Ebeling. Ebeling singled to start things off and later stole home, opening the scoring at 1-0.
Don Capperella kept it going as he followed with a single.
Kaden Clark put runners in first and second when he showed his patience at the plate with a walk, setting the stage for Kormanic. Kormanic sent a blast over the fence for the round tripper, upping the lead to 4-0.
Rounding things out for the Red Raiders was Triston Woodring-Heckman as he singled and scored to put them up 5-0.
Defensively, the kids from Bellefonte had it A-game going and shut them down in the first.
State College reclaimed its defense as both teams shut the other down in the second, third innings and fourth innings.
But in the top of the fifth, the Bellefonte offense exploded once again.
Scoring in the inning were Woodring-Heckman, Ethan Struble, Davis Corman, Ebeling, Cooper Funk and Luke Fisher, upping the advantage to 11-0.
State College plated a run late as Garrett Gess scored to make the final 11-1.
