Bellefonte offense rolls over Tyrone, 49-14

BELLEFONTE – No rest for the weary.
After coming off an exhausting overtime win last Friday against Central Mountain, it
be a physically and emotional challenge when the Bellefonte team went up against a legendary program in Tyrone Friday night at their field.
But with all well coached teams, the Red Raiders did not look any worse for wear as they scored early and often against a tough Tyrone defense, winning 49-14.
Bellefonte mixed up the air attack and ground game with equal success, running it for 316 yards on the ground and throwing it for 144 yards.
Dylan Deitrich led the way for Bellefonte, rushing for a game high 134 yards on the ground.
He was just as successful through the air as well, posting a 144-yard throwing effort and a touchdown pass in the victory.
With the win, Bellefonte improves to 4-1 overall with a tough Clearfield team ready for them coming right around the corner.
“We felt pretty good with our game plan coming into the game tonight,” said Bellefonte coach Shanon Manning. “We played very well tonight. The kids executed. Their focus was outstanding. They came ready to play.”
The group came out and was primed and ready for action.
After winning the toss, the Red Raiders got the ball first.
However, the Golden Eagle defense was able to hold them for losses on the first two plays before the Red Raiders would put it all together.

Starting at their own 21, Bellefonte marched down the field on a 10-play drive. Deitrich capped off the drive as he found a wide open Cade Fortney for the touchdown. With the Chris Persiko PAT, Bellefonte was up 7-0 with 7:45 left in the first quarter.
Defensively, the “Red and Black” attack was tough on the Eagles offense as well, forcing them to punt on their opening possession.
With the ball back on offense and a pack of strong-willed lineman ahead of them, Deitrich and company found the end zone for the second time but this time he ran it in from 17-yards out, upping the lead to 14-0.
Bellefonte would get on the board once more before the quarter ended as Fortney blazed down the field for an 80-yard touchdown run on its first play of their third drive.
Things continued to sizzle for the Red Raiders in the second, this time with 11:93 left until the half, Dexter Gallishaw capped off a long drive by pushing his way in from one yard out.
Playing for pride, the Golden Eagle defense buckled down and refused to let anymore scoring in the half. With the quick momentum change, Tyrone gave the ball to its offense in hopes of a successful 3-minute drill.
It was just that as Jamal Hicks and quarterback Denver Light hit on two passes combining for a total of 72 yards and a touchdown at the buzzer.
Trailing only 28-7 In the second half, Tyrone was hoping to build off its last second scoring drive but with one throw and an interception by CJ Funk, the game went back into the Red Raiders favor as he scored on the interception from 45 yards out, making it 35-7.
On Bellefonte s next drive, the Red Raiders went back to Dietrich and he scored his second TD of the game.
Early in the fourth, the Eagles’ kept their heads up and refused to go away without a fight.
Tyrone’s Zach Albright capped off a Golden Eagles’ drive with a 14-yard touchdown run, cutting it to 42-14.
But the night belonged to Bellefonte as the Red Raiders would score on a 40-yard touchdown run by Mason Grey to end the scoring at 49-14.
With the win, the Red Raiders improve to 4-1 while Tyrone, despite the spirited effort, falls to 1-4.
