ALTOONA – The Mifflin County girls’ soccer team played like a team possessed as they came out firing, picking up two first half goals and the first three in the contest to hold onto a 3-1 victory Tuesday night at Altoona High School.
Jessica Bickhart got the scoring started as she was assisted by Tori Moon, for the 14-minute mark.
Eight minutes later, McKenna Smith got in the scoring act at the 22-minute mark to give the Huskies a hard earned 2-0 advantage as the team’s went into the intermission.
Just like the beginning of the game, Bickhart got the scoring started in the second as she picked up her second goal as she was assisted by McKenna Smith, at 51-minute mark, giving the locals some breathing room.
Altoona got its only goal late as Amber Knott hit an unassisted goal at the 58-minute to cut it to 3-1 before the game ended.
Mifflin County tallied eight shots on goal while Altoona had nine.
In the save department,Allyssa Schnell
Scooped out eight while Altoona’s Caranda Perea finished with six.
Altoona held the advantage on corners by 2-1 margin.
Mifflin County’s Record is 2-7 overall, 1-4 in the Mid-Penn League.
The Huskies’ JVs lost 1-0.
Rebecca Montgomery recorded eight saves.
