Indians have successful day at Pine Grove

In track action over the weekend, the Juniata track and field team got numerous strong efforts as they competed in the Pine Grove invitational.
Leading the way on the boys side was Garrett Baulblitz who not only set a school record in the 3200-meter run but also a new stadium record and meet record. His time of 9:33.16 was tops.
Jeremiah Parsons took a sixth place finish in the 109-meter run with a time of 11.89. Parson placed fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:01.96.
Teammate Tad Shellenberger also finished fourth, he finished with a 54.70 in the 400-meter run.
Rounding out the boys day was Wade Moore’s 4th place throw of 121’10” in the discus.
The list for the girls top finishers is long and distinguished.
As a team, the girls finished second overall with 55 team points.
In the Girls 4×100 relay, the girls took third with a time of 53.07 while the 4×800 finished 4th with a time of 10:51.41.
Josie Swartz finished third in the 1600, finishing with a time of 5:43.6.
Sydney Sheaffer had a strong showing in the field, placing in three different events.
In the high jump, Sheaffer finished with a leap of 4’10” good enough for fifth.
Sheaffer finished second in the long jump with a jump of 14’11 1/4” while teammate Megan Brubaker took top honors with a jump of 16’6 3/4”.
The same two took First and second in the triple jump. Brubaker finished first while Sheaffer took second with leaps of 33’5” and 32’7”, respectively.
Rounding out the days place winners was Julie Hart who threw a 6th place throw of 29’4 1/2” to end a very successful day for the Indians.
