Mifflin County loses nail biter to Altoona

In its second game in as many days, the Mifflin County baseball team was again on the road, traveling to Altoona for a Wednesday afternoon contest.

The game was a close one but in the end Mifflin County came up short, falling 4-3.

After a scoreless first two innings, Altoona opened up to score four in the third as Mifflin County scored one in the top of the inning.

Brando Souders, who went 2-for-2, led off the inning with a single and was brought in by a double by Brian Yetter, taking en early 1-0 advantage.

However just trailing by three, the Huskies refused to go away as they picked up two runs in the fifth to make it a 4-3 contest.

Again, Brando scores after reaching base after being hit by a pitch.

Oburn reached on a single, moving up Souders and putting him in scoring position.

Colby Bodtorf brought in Souders with a single.

Yetter, who went 2-for-3 with 2RBIs,  again brought in a teammate as he singled in Oburn to cut the score to a 1-run deficit.

But Mifflin County could not get that run they needed to tie in the final part of the game as the Mountain Lions held on for the victory.

Picking up the victory for Altoona was Matt Hartman while Mifflin County’s Bodtorf took the loss.
