Altoona spoils Mifflin County’s post season nod

ALTOONA – It was a quiet ending for the Mifflin County baseball team as they fell in a nail biting 4-3 loss on the road to Altoona in the first round of the District 6 AAAA playoffs.
The Huskies went down to the last inning before the Mountain Lions plated its final at bats.
Tyreen Smalley took the loss while Altoona’s Jake Stolarski picked up the victory.
Evan Mock was the lone Husky to finish with multiple hits, going 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Altoona scores First in the game, plating a run in the bottom of the first.
But the Huskies tied things in the second.
Aaron Kanagy got things going with a single up the middle. Wyatt Henry came in to pinch run for Kanagy. Henry used his speed and stole second. Smalley walked to put runners on first and second.
Noah Wright sent a sacrifice fly, scoring Henry.
In the third, Mifflin County took the lead briefly picking up its second run.
Max Oburn and Jared King led off with consecutive walks.
Brian Yetter moved Oburn up to third as he hit into a fielders choice.
With two outs, Oburn was able to steal home, making it 2-1.
Altoona picked up two runs in the fourth, taking a 3-2 advantage.
But Mifflin County refuses to go away, picking up a run in the sixth.
Evan Mock ties things as he posted a hit that scored Hostetler.
But it wasn’t meant to be for the Huskies on this night as the Mountain Lions scores in the bottom of the seventh, ending the contest.
