Baublitz; Indians cross country team has strong showing at Big Springs

The Juniata Cross Country team competed at the Ben Bloser Invitational held on Saturday, September 15 at Big Springs High School in Newville, PA.
Garrett Baublitz led the Indians with a 2nd place finish in the AA varsity boys race.  Garrett’s time was 16:24.  The boys finished 11th of 27 teams in the AA competition.  Other varsity boy finishers were Clay Yeager 35th, Albert Heister 52nd, James Hazard 103rd, Zeb Ames 113th, Brody Powell 117th, and Micah Fausey 130th.  In the JV race Isaak Fausey finished 156th, Yadiel Nieves-Aguirre 208th, Owen Hadsell 276st, Noah Sheaffer 365th, Kyle Louder 398th, and Kaleb Louder 426st.  There were 438 athletes in the JV race.
In the girls AA varsity race, the Indians were led by freshman Emily Houtz who ran a personal best time of 21:25 putting her on the medal stand in 13th place.  Other varsity girl finishers were Sydney Houtz 57th and Katrina Weber 141st.  The girls did not have enough runners to compete in the team competition.
Other athletes that had personal best for the day were:  Micah Fausey, Noah Sheaffer, Kaleb Louder, and Sydney Houtz.
The Indians will travel to Susquenita on Tuesday
