The Bald Eagles Volleyball team traveled to PIttsburgh this past weekend, and had the opportunity to enjoy the home of the Pitt Panthers. After a tour of campus and taking in a 3-0 win of the #6 women’s volleyball team on Friday, they participated in the North Allegheny Tournament on Saturday.

The Eagles opened their pool play with a 2-0 victory over Thomas Jefferson, winning 25-19 and 25-21.

They then played against the tournament host, and current AAAA #1 team, North Allegheny, splitting the two sets, 22-25 and 26-24.

In the final match up of pool play, the Eagles swept Avonworth with scores of 25-7 and 25-21.

In the seeding cross-over match, the Eagles drew current AAAA #7 team, Baldwin, splitting two sets, but losing on points, with scores of 27-25 and 18-25.

To begin the gold medal bracket, the Eagles faced local opponent, Altoona, winning 25-7.

In the quarterfinals, the Eagles faced current AA #3 team, and defending state champion, Freeport. The Eagles won 25-22.

In the semifinals, the Eagles matched up with Baldwin again, losing 20-25.

The Eagles finished third in the tournament of 16 teams.

Madison Rockey led in three statistical categories for the day. Her 10 aces, 6 blocks, and 113 assists topped all of the categories.

The Eagles were led defensively by Lexi Skripek’s 72 digs.

Offensively, Grace Hugar led with 44 kills, while Taylor Kilmer had 29 kills, hitting at a .350 hitting percentage. Lacee Barnhart added 21 kills
