Central Mountain ends season with win

MILL HALL – It’s a wrap.
In its season ending game against Shamokin, the Central Mountain Wildcats baseball team took to the field for the last time before the post season.
The Wildcats’ hurler Caleb Shade got the victory.
Multiple hitters in the contest were Shamokin’s Quinn Rollman who went 2-for-4 with an RBI. While Austyn Carson went 2-for-3 run, Mahlik Houtz was 2-for-3 run RBI and Asher Corl went 2-for-4 run, 2RBI.
Central Mountain came with a very Workman like effort and was ready from the beginning playing strong defense along with strong pitching.
Offensively, the Wildcats also shined on the night finishing with nine.
“This is a great way to lead into the playoffs. Solid pitching. Solid defense throughout the line up. We have guys that played well today, saw the ball well today. I couldn’t think of a better way to enter the playoffs,” Central Mountain coach Michael Kramer said.
First up in the post season will be Hollidaysburg at a time and a place to be announced at a later date.
After a quick top of the first inning, the Central Mountain bats would start bright and early in their part of the first.
Zach Eck led off the game and was interfered with by the Indians’ catcher, which allowed Eck to reach First.
With one out, Eck stole second and was brought in on a single by Houtz.
Houtz later scored on an RBI single by Trevor Hanna, giving the Wildcats a 2-0 advantage.
Shade kept Shamokin at bay in the second as well, allowing just one hit before its offense took over once again in the bottom of the inning.
The Wildcats added to their lead, picking up three more runs to increase its lead.
Troy Gardner led off the inning with a single back up the middle.
Rocco Stark reached on a second Indians’ miscue.
Eck advanced both teammates up a base placing down a picture perfect sacrifice bunt.
Corl singled in both Gardner and Stark on a single in the left centerfield gap.
Houtz helped bring in one more run, doubling in Corl, making it 5-0.
Central Mountain continues to cruise along, allowing just a run in the third and fourth innings.
In the bottom of the third, the Wildcats added another insurance run thanks to Austyn Carson’s single, stolen base and eventually a run home on a wild pitch.
Going into the fourth, Central Mountain held onto to a seemingly secure 6-1.
After a run by the Indians in the fourth, Central Mountain added one last run to input the game on ice.
Trevor Hanna put his team up for good at 7-2.
