East Juniata girls soccer team sweeps Juniata

COCOLAMUS – Just a week after battling for bragging rights of Juniata County, the East Juniata girls soccer team and Juniata teams renewed their rivalry. 

Juniata was looking to take away the Tigers undefeated streak while East Juniata attempted to sweep the season series.

In the end it would be all East Juniata as they blanked the Indians 10-0 at home. 

“We’re moving the ball quickly and cleanly. Defending and finishing very well,”

Said East Juniata coach Valeria Dressler.

Most fans who were just sitting down to watch the game might have missed the first goal of the game. Hailey Swartz who was assisted by Maddison Coudriet- pushed one in at the 1:18 mark.

After both teams settled in, the Tigers would hit again. 

Three of the East Juniata front line finished with a hat trick. 

Posting hat tricks were Swartz, Kierstyn Fogle and Thea Neimond.

Fogle followed as she scored on an unassisted goal at 16:57. 

Later in the first, Neimond got into the act when was assisted by Clarye Guyer- 20:40, making it 3-0.

Less then seven minutes later, Fogle was back at it as she was assisted by Carly Beaver- 27:12.

Yet again Fogle found the goal in the first as she posted a goal as she was assisted by Neimond at 29:26.

At the beginning of the second half, the quick strike unit of the Tigers scored again. Neimond on an assisted by Swartz posted a goal at the 41:06-minute mark. 

Swartz scores the team’s seventh and eighth goals as she was assisted by Neimond at 49:48 and then scored on an unassisted goal at 56:00.

 Neimond picked up her hat trick as she scored while assisted by Fogleat 59:39.

Rounding out the scoring was Brianna Henry with an unassisted goal at 73:57. 

East Juniata led by a 17-1 margin over Juniata. 

The Tigers had three corners while Juniata had none. 

East Juniata improved its overall record to 15-0-0 and a sparkling League record of 10-0. 

The Tigers’ next game is at 10-15-18 against Millersburg and Southern Columbia (Double Header). 

Juniata’s record is now 10-5

Juniata plays Monday at Line Mountain.
