East Juniata survives close contest versus Derry Decatur

In the first game of the Central Keystone Football and Cheer League it was Mifflin County versus Juniata County as the East Juniata Pee Wees went up against a very feisty Derry Decatur team.

Both defenses controlled the tempo of the game and the two made it a nail biting affair.

Derry Decatur got the scoring started on its first drive.

After starting on the Tigers 25 and rolled straight to the end zone.

On second down and goal, Easton Lepley scores from one yard out, making it 6-0 with 4:09 left in the first.

Using a stingy defense, the Cyclones were able to take the lead as the two teams went into the intermission.

Early in the second half the Tigers would counter.

With the ball sitting on the Cyclones’ 29, Kaden Rodriquez broke free and scampered 29 yards for the touchdown, with successful PAT, East Juniata held a 7-6 advantage.

The game would stay within one until late in the game as the Tigers got the insurance they needed with a minute left.

Rodriquez, who finished with over 100-yards rushing, scored from 14-yards out, clinched the game at 14-6.
