ej softball loses thriller 14-12

COCOLAMUS – It was a tough night on the diamond for the East Juniata girls softball team as they fell in an offensive battle to Line Mountain 14-12.

Leading the way offensively were Lydia Hunter who went 3-for-3 with a triple and an RBI while Meghan Schilling went 2-for-3 with a double and 2RBIs. Rounding out the top hitters were Maddie Plesce and Meisha Heintzelman both rapping a double. Plesce went 2-for-3 while Heintzelman was 1-for-3.

East Juniata started out strong defensively for the first couple of innings while posting a seven run first inning and an 8-1 advantage, going into the third inning.

However, the Tigers let their guards down giving up six runs in the 7th with only two being earned runs.

Line Mountain continued to battle each inning and took advantage of our mistakes which ultimately gave them the win.  “We had a total of 7 errors in the field which resulted in runs,” East Juniata head coach Joe Schilling said. “ We struggled making the routine plays.  Offensively we played much better, we had a total of 12 hits, with different players getting extra base hits.”

With the loss that takes East Juniata falls to 0-4 in the Tri-Valley League..  East Juniata’s took the JV Game was winning, 9-6.

The Tigers next game is Wednesday  at  Upper Dauphin.
