Feisty East Juniata team battles tough but falls to Greenwood

In an early Tri-Valley League match up, the Greenwood Wildcats girls basketball team was able to fend off a feisty East Juniata team Tuesday night 42-37.

Leading the way for the Tigers were Alyssa Robinson with 13 while teammate Alyssa Hibbs tallied 11.

Kenedy Straup paced the winning with a game-high 25 points for the Wildcats.

In the contest, East Juniata took the lead at the end of the first period, 11-10.

The Tigers also led in scoring at the end of the second posting a 10-8 advantage and a 21-18 lead going into the intermission.

After the third quarter ended, it was Greenwood’s turn to outscore East Juniata as they posted a 11-8 advantage to cut things to just a 2-point East Juniata lead going into the final stanza.

The Wildcats got hot when they needed to as they took the final period and the game outscoring the up and coming Tigers 10-8 for the 5-point victory.
