Huskies home opener proves successful

LEWISTOWN – It was a nice way to start the home schedule!

In its home opener, the Mifflin County boys soccer team played a solid game, shutting out Harrisburg 3-0.

The Huskies posted two of their goals in the first half to give them some breathing room going into the intermission.

Reese Carter got the scoring started as he was assisted by Leeum Noerr at the 16:10 mark. 

Both defenses took over from there as both held each other scoreless for more than 20 minutes. 

But at the 36:48 mark, Carter once again got the nod as he zipped a goal thanks to an assist by Jack Xanthopoulos, making it 2-0 going into the second half.

Carter picked up the hat trick late in the game on an Assist by Leeum Noerr at the 63:06 mark.

Both teams tallied five corners apiece while Mifflin County outshot the Cougars 17-10.  

Mifflin County Goalie Zach Burke collected 10 saves while Harrisburg’s Juan Valverde had 14 saves.
