Juniata boys blank Upper Dauphin

The Juniata boys soccer team got off on the right foot, defeating Upper Dauphin 4-0 Tuesday night.

Tad Shellenberger led his team I. Scoring by capturing a hat trick en route to the victory.

“I was pleased with how the team played this evening given that we have not had a competitive game or scrimmage since the first week of preseason,” Juniata coach Jared Byler said. “Moving forward from this game, we need to improve our ability to score more goals given the high number of shots we were able to create. “

Shellenberger got the scoring started with an unassisted goal only 22:40 left in the half.

Teammate Dawson Harper 32:01 off an Assist from Garrett Meifert at the 32:01 mark, extended the lead to 2-0.

That would be all the scoring in the first period as the Indians’ defense would hold, making it 2-0 going into the intermission.

In the Second Half, Shellenberger stroked a goal just 2:52 in, increasing the lead to 3-0.

Rounding out the scoring Shellenberger hit yet another unassisted goal at the 18:44 mark to lead his team to victory.

Juniata led on shots on goal by a 16 – 6 margin and led in Corner Kicks

2- 0.
