Juniata outlasts East Juniata on softball diamond

Throw out the records when East Juniata And Juniata battle in any sport.

Wednesday proved that theory right as the Lady Tigers and Lady Indians met in its annual softball rivalry.

Despite a tough effort from East Juniata, it would be Juniata that would come out victorious, 10-8.

What looked to be an Indian runaway early, proved to be a tight one in the last two innings.

Juniata picked up eight combined runs in the first two innings.

East Juniata’s Ashlynn Searer highlighted the Tigers’ comeback attempt with a home run. She finished the night going 3-for-5.

Other multiple hitters on the night for East Juniata were Lexi Stuck (3-for-4), Carlee Barrick (2-for-5), Alyssa Robinson (2-for-4) and Emersyn Mader (2-for-4).

Juniata got multiple hits from Mya Rush (2-for-3) and Laney Dowling (2-for-3).

Juniata pitcher Abby Adair who went the distance giving up eight runs on 15 hits while striking out four.

Taking the loss was Becca Deitz who went 4 2/3 innings, giving up 10 runs on six hits while striking out four.

After falling behind 8-1, the Tigers battled back sparked by a 5-run sixth inning.

However, it wouldn’t be enough as the Indians went onto the victory, reaching one step closer to the .500 mark, standing at 4-5.
