Juniata outlasts Newport in TVL baseball action

Juniata 6, Newport 5

 It was a great night on the diamond for the Juniata baseball team as Will Orwig picked up the 6-5 win over Newport.

Taking the loss was Devan Blose.

Juniata Pitchers on the night were Devon Nealman, two strikeouts and four walks while Orwig had a strikeout.

Devan Blose, who struck out three and walked one, took the loss.

Juniata got Doublesfrom Paul Ames (1) and Jacob Condo (1)while Newport’s Sean Taylor (1)had one.

Offensively, the Indians were led by Devon Nealman who went 2-for-4.

Newport finished with multiple hits from Mason Huggins 2-for-4 and Grant Kauffman 3-for-4.

 RBI leaders for the Indians on the night were Devon Nealman (2), Jamie Bailer (1) and Jacob Condo (1)

Newport’s RBI leaders were Dylan Kramer (1), Mason Kauffman (1), Grant Kauffman (2) and Sean Taylor (1).

 “We had decent pitching from Devon and Will this evening.  Errors are still haunting us,” said Juniata coach Nick Beward. “But tonight we found a way to come through in the end.  Great team win this evening!”
