Juniata runs strong, but falls short to Mifflin County and Hollidaysburg.  Takes win over Newport.

The Juniata Indians cross country team competed against Mifflin County, Hollidaysburg, Newport, Susquenita at Reedsville on Thursday, October 17. The team scores were Juniata 33 to Mifflin County 26, Juniata 31 to Hollidaysburg 26, Juniata 15 to Newport 50.  Leading the way for Juniata was senior Garrett Baublitz running to an overall first place with a time 16:05. He was followed by Clay Yeager in 6st place with a time of 17:23.  James Hazard came in shortly after in 17:25 (PR) for 7th place. Other Juniata runners were:

Isaak Fausey – 18th – 18:52

Micah Fausey – 19th – 18:54 – PR

Brody Powell – 26st – 19:28

Will Tyson – 28th – 19:51

Tim Kelly – 34th – 20:27 -PR

Noah Sheaffer – 43rd – 22:35

Kaleb Louder – 55th – 25:11 – PR

On the girls side, the Juniata cross country team took a win over Newport, but fell short to Mifflin County and Hollidaysburg.  The team scores were Juniata 27 to Newport 28, Juniata 40 to Mifflin County 22, and Juniata 35 to Hollidaysburg 25.  Leading the way for the Juniata girls was senior Sydney Houtz with a time of 21:23 good enough for 3rd overall.  She was followed by Emily Houtz in 4th with a time of 21:33, Julia Burns 29th – 28:16, Katie Hart 33rd – 29:34, and Joceline Telfer 36st – 37:36.

Juniata coach Jeff Miller was pleased with both his boys and girls teams.  “Heavy winds slowed times, but many came away feeling good about their race as we prepare for the District 6 Championships on the very same course in a little over a week,” said Miller.
