Lady Huskies fall to Big Springs in a nail biter
A nail biter right off the bat.
The Mifflin County girls basketball team wasted little time finding itself in a back and forth contest against Big Springs.
Unfortunately for the Huskies, the girls fell 47-45 Friday night.
Molly Wagoner paced the way for “the Purple and Black Attack”, netting 13 points. Madison Schaeffer was next up for Mifflin County, scoring 10 points.
Big Springs got a “Big” effort from three of its players.
Emily Sullivan and Laney Noreika with 11, while teammate Shelby Miller followed with 10.
Mifflin County started off strong outscoring Big Spring 14-6.
Leading the scoring in the opening period was Wagoner with five while
Briana Bodtorf has three.
The tides turned in the second as Big Spring took over the momentum posting a 16-9 second period.
As the two teams went into the intermission Mifflin County led by one point, 23-22.
Schaeffer was the Huskies’ leading scorer in the stanza with four.
Big Spring also outscored Mifflin County by a 11-8 margin. With the three-point advantage in the period, Big Springs took the lead 33-31.
Both teams finished in a stalemate in the final stanza at 14, giving Big Spring the 2-point victory.
