Lady Rams shut out Clearfield

PV – 2, Clearfield – 0

The Penns Valley girls soccer team got the key goals they needed while their defense stood tall, defeating Clearfield 2-0 Tuesday.

Tonight was a chance for us to celebrate our six seniors: Olia Corman, Danae Hurd, Morgan Hurd, Olivia Krum, Emma Narber and Caitlyn Rhoads.  They have been the heart of our team all season and will all be sorely missed next year.  Senior captain, Emma Narber, set up Hannah Montminy for our first goal in the game and got us off to a great start,” said Penns Valley coach Andrew Beverly. “Clearfield battled back and the game was incredibly even and competitive throughout.  Clearfield are a hard-working and fit team that never stops going at you.  They are led by senior midfield, Alayna Ryan, who is one of the league’s best all-around players.  Alayna and Leah Beben had a great back and forth battle in the second half.  We got our second goal when Hannah Montminy took a throw in from Katie Martell and beat two defenders and then slotted the ball into the bottom corner to make it 2-0.  The game continued to go back and forth after that and some great defensive work by Danae Hurd and Kylie Auman in goal kept Clearfield off the scoresheet.”

The Rams got goals from Hannah Montminy off of a pass from Emma Narber at 5:42,

Montminy hit a second goal this time from Katie Martell at 61:01.

Penns Valley led in shots on goal by a 12-11 advantage.

Goalkeeper Kylie Auman had nine saves while Clearfield’s Hayley Moore had six.

In Corner Kicks, Penns Valley tallied seven while Clearfield had four.

Penns Valley’s record is now 11-4 (11-1 in Mt League) and our next game is tomorrow against Bald Eagle Area.
