MC 15s rebound; top New Colonie

Back on track.

Despite taking a tough loss in Saturday’s prime time game, the Mifflin County 15-year olds rebounded Sunday afternoon and took care of New Colonie 11-1 in five innings.

Leading the way both on offense and defense was pitcher Casey Conner.

Conner dominated on the mound, allowing three hits while striking out eight.

He also swung a hot bat, posting a 2-run home runs and three singles while finishing with three RBIs en route to the victory.

Other Mifflin County multiple hitters were Cole Schlegel (2-for-3, 2RBIs) and Jaxson Pupo (2-for-2, 3 runs).

The Bison scored the first run of the game in the top of the first.

Stephen Martino walked.

Teammate Josh Faglia was hit by a Conner offering.

Pitcher Tyler Stanton helped his cause early as he doubled in Martino, making it 1-0.

That would be the last time New Colonie would cross home plate as the Mifflin County defense held.

Mifflin County battled right back in the bottom of the inning as they played two to take a run lead into the second.

Ethan Eichhorn led off the inning with a single.

With one mighty swing by Conner, the game belonged to Mifflin County as the ball soared out over the centerfield fence for the 2-run Home run.

With the 2-1 advantage, “the Boys in Blue” we’re back at it in the second, plating three more and added to its lead.

Pupo led off with a double while Cole Knable singled to left, putting runners on first and third. 

Bryce Dobson reached base and Pupo and Knable scored on a New Colonie error. 

Knable later scored when Colby Bodtorf reached on an error, making it 5-1 after two.

The runs kept coming for Mifflin County as the added two more runs in the third to up its advantage to 7-1 when Pupo and Conner both crossed the plate in the inning.

After holding the Bison at bay, Mifflin County added four runs in the fifth to end the contest via the 10-run rule, 11-1.

The locals will be back in action tonight at 8pm back in Milroy.
