MC Girls fall in overtime thriller to Hollidaysburg

The Mifflin County girls basketball team gave Hollidaysburg all that it could handle before falling late, 58-53 in an overtime thriller.

An 11-6 run in the extra period proved to be the deciding factor.

Mifflin County ran its offense Molly Wagoner who had a game-high 26 points for the Huskies.

Brianna Bodtorf just missed double digit scoring finishing with nine.

Allison Hileman paced the winners with a 16-point effort while teammates Hannah Snyder and Sierra McClain finished with 13 points each.

In the first quarter, the two went back and forth with the lead as the Eagles finished with an 18-17 advantage.

Leading the way for Hollidaysburg was McClain with five while Mifflin County got eight from Wagoner.

Hollidaysburg outscored the Huskies again in the fourth, this time by a 11-6 advantage.

As the two went into the intermission, the Eagles held a 29-23 advantage.

But the second half belonged to the Huskies as Wagoner and company came out and took control of the third outscoring Hollidaysburg 14-9 and cutting the Eagles’ lead to 38-37 lead.

Wagoner scores four.

The Huskies battled back in the final stanza as they rallied to tie the game and send it into overtime, outscoring them 11-10, making it 47 each tie. 

MCs Kolbi Knode posted three points to pace the Huskies.

Unfortunately for Mifflin County, the Eagles got the last run of the ball game, finishing off the game on an 11-6 run.
