Mifflin County track teams sweep Harrisburg

LEWISTOWN -The  Mifflin County boys and girls track teams picked up their first wins of the season in their home openers winning 88-62 and 116-30 respectively against Harrisburg.  Leading the way for the girls was Kiana Sechler.  Kiana took home wins in the 100M (13.37), long jump (16’0”), triple jump (33’6”) and anchored the winning 4×4 relay team with Morgan Robinette, Madelyn Chilcote, and Macy Becker.  Also coming up big for the girls were Ella Spriggle winning the 100 hurdles(15.79), 300 hurdles (48.16), and 200 (27.69).  Other winners were Lauryn Kuykendall in the 1600(5:47.10), and 800(2:40.32), Julia Montgomery in the 3200(13:26.72), Skylar Ciccolini in the high jump (4’`10’), and javelin (169’8”), Katie Kline in the pole vault (7’7”).  Also, the 4×8 relay team of Rebecca Montgomery, Morgan Breon, Leah Bickert, and Ava Wilkinson took home gold, as did the 4×100 relay team of Bryn Kanagy, Katie Kline, Brielle Moon, and Alexis Stanton.

On the boys side, Chayce Macknair set the pace, winning the 1600 (4:41.50), the 800(2:09.61), and running the third leg of the winning 4×400 relay team with Chase Shaeffer, Joe Yearick, and Seth Phillips (3:39.90).  Also coming up big were Seth Phillips in the 400(51.30), Mason Shomaker in the 3200(11:39.96), the 4×8 relay team of Mason Shomaker, Bobby Kuykendall, Christopher Royer, and Mason Laudermilch.  Personal best throws by Bronson Smith-Price in the shot (42’11”) and Hunter Packard’s throw of 135’3” in the javelin also brought home gold.  Finishing out the night, Logan Renninger won the discus with a toss 119’2” and Josiah Yearick’s personal best pole vault of 11’3” won first place.
