Penns Valley girls advance; tops Indians 3-0

WINGATE – For the Juniata high school girls soccer team, the season cane quietly to an end after they fell quietly to a very uptempo game of Penns Valley 3-0 in the opening round of District 6 play Wednesday night at Bald Eagle Area High school.

The Rams played a very aggressive offensive contest and was able to match it with a tough defense, causing trouble for the Indians from the very beginning to the end.

On a cold night, Penns Valley provided the spark when they found the goal less than a minute in, making it 1-0 with 39:25.

Hannah Montminy put her team on the board on its first drive as she got behind the Indians defenders and into the net.

The two battled at a pretty even pace throughout the half as each would take their times in the others backfield.

However, both ended up with 12 shots on goals each, Juniata led in the corner department.

Juniata goalie Kali Fultz who had 8 while Penns Valley’s Kylie Aumon had six en route to the victory. 

As both teams tried to find open shot in each other’s defensive end.

Trailing by one, Juniata pushed things down in the indians’ back third. 

At the 18:01 mark, Penns Valley increases the to 2-1 as Danny Gorman, upping the Lady Rams lead to 2-1.

Neither team would score the rest of the intermission and Penns Valley held a 2-0 lead.

In the second half, Montminy added to her score list as she sent another high shot, upping it to 3-0.

From there both defenses took turns controlling the momentum of the game and from there.

Juniata would get some looks at the goal but never was able to get in sync.

With the win, the Rams advance while the Indians are eliminated.
