Penns Valley girls post seven goals on PO

The Penns Valley girls soccer team made quite a statement Tuesday as it picked up a convincing 7-0 victory at Philipsburg-Osceola.

Penns Valley outshot the Mounties 32 – 2.

They also won in corner opportunities by a 5 – 0 margin.

In the save department, Penns Valley goalie Kylie Auman had two while PO’s Jocelyn Hutton had 15.

“We started the game well but we were lacking that cutting edge in the final third.  But the girls kept at and Hannah Montminy found herself in behind the defense off great passes to notch a first half hat trick.  Hannah is the kind of player who can recognize the opportunities to be dangerous and when given the chance, she rarely misses.  The girls were given some specific points of focus for the second half and put them to good use.  We were able to look at some different things and got a lot of girls some solid minutes in this game.  Maria Lovallo stood out quite a bit in the second half, bagging two goals,” said Penns Valley coach Andrew Beverly. “Maria is normally our workhorse, defensive center mid but we need some energy and movement in the attack and she was fantastic.  Now we have to prepare for another tough league game in two days.”

Hannah Montminy led the way for the Lady Rams, posting a hat trick.

Teammate Anna Korman finished with two.

Montminy started the scoring thanks to an assist by Cate Goodwin at 14:33.

Montminy was at it again, putting in her team’s second goal thanks to a pass from Hannah Denger at 22:01,

Still in the first half, Montminy off an assist by Nikki Denger made it 3-0 at 31:34.

Anna Korman scores at the 44:00 mark on an unassisted goal.

Maria Lovallo hit her first thanks to an assist by H. Denger, 46:26.

Lovallo notched goal number two thanks to an assist by Montminy at 57:00.

Morgan Smith on an asst by Korman rounded out the scoring at 79:30.

Penns Valley’s record is now 3-4 and our next game is on 9/19vs Clearfield.
