Pennsylvania Krunch 12U Futures Take Aunt Rosie’s Silver

Submitted article

Amherst, NY—The Pennsylvania Krunch 12 U Futures finished a marathon championship Sunday just short of a championship at the Aunt Rosie’s International. The Memorial Day weekend tournament showcased talented teams from throughout the Northeast, and the Krunch 12U Futures ran the gauntlet on the final day of the tourney, playing 5 games in a 14-hour span. The Futures survived tight contests leading up to the finals including a 3-1 win in the quarterfinals over the Ohio Valley Extreme and a 2-1 nail biter over the Orchard Park Starz. The championship was a rematch of Friday’s pool play opener against the Ohio Lasers Silver which the Krunch lost in inconsistent fashion 9-1. The final was a different story. Lizzie Gaisior bested the loaded Lasers lineup for most of the game, but late clutch hits would prove to be too much to overcome. The Futures never quit, manufacturing 3 runs in the late innings but finally coming up a hit or two short, dropping the final 5-3. The Krunch look to ride the momentum from AuntRosie’s into the 14U bracket at the Berkshire Challenge in Leesport, PA June 8-9.
