Personal bests top list in Juniata xcountry meet

The Juniata Cross Country team went up against a top notch team in Mifflin County.  Mifflin County won 17 to 30.  Also competing at the meet were Susquenita and Newport.  Juniata won against Susquenita 20 to 40.  Newport didn’t have enough runners to score as a team.  We knew going into this meet that it would be very hard to beat Mifflin Country with three runners capable of running under 17:00.
“I used this meet for Garrett as preparation for State Championships in two weeks and the rest of the team was going after personal best Coach Miller said.   Garrett ran the workout that I told him to do, but he had some stomach problems half way through.  The team was very successful at accomplishing personal best.  We had 7 out to the 12 boys run PRs today.  I am very please with how the boys ran.  It is great for them to see that hard work does pay off.  I am looking forward to seeing what they can do at the District 6 Championship next week.”
3rd – Garrett Baublitz – 16:41
8th – Albert Heister – 18:04
10th – James Hazard – 18:22 (personal best)
11th – Clay Yeager – 18:24
13th – Isaak Fausey – 18:52 (personal best)
15th – Zeb Ames – 19:00
20th – Brody Powell – 19:35
21th – Yadiel Nieves-Aguirre – 19:44 (personal best)
27th – Micah Fausey – 20:04 (personal best)
36st – Kyle Louder – 23:37 (personal best)
38th – Noah Sheaffer – 23:45 (personal best)
47th – Kaleb Louder – 27:05 (personal best)
On the girls side, Emily Houtz was 4th with a time of 21:45and Katrina Weber was 23rd with a time of 33:53.  Emily ran a tough race by trying to stay with Joy Galbraith from Mifflin County for the first mile, but it turned out to be a little too much for her.  I am pleased with the effort that she put in.  Next on the schedule is the District 6 Cross Country Championship that will be held on Saturday, October 27 at Indian Valley Elementary Center.
