PO boys dominate Southern Huntingdon in opener

At Southern Huntingdon, the Philipsburg-Osceola boys basketball opened with a strong start, dropping Southern Huntingdon 70-43 Friday night in its season opener.

The Mounties were led by Ryan Whitehead with 18 and Jeremy Whitehead 15 pts and 10 rebounds finishing with a Double-Double.

Tyler Doyle and Kaleb Richardson both with 13 points.

Defensively, the Mounties did not allow a Rockets’ player to finish in double figures.

Both team’s came out firing as the matched each other step-for-step both posting a 15-point first quarter.

Going into the intermission, the Mounties started to separate itself from the Rockets as its defense held them to only nine points in the period.

Going into the half, PO led 29-24.

The second half belonged to the Mounties as it exploded for 30 points in the third while keeping the Rockets to another 9-point period.

From there the home team cruised to the victory outscoring Southern 11-10 en route to the victory.
