PO outlasts Lady Trojans in D6 post season action

PHILIPSBURG – It was a classic battle of two legendary softball programs Monday afternoon as the Mount Union Lady Trojans traveled the Philipsburg-Osceola Mounties In the first round of District 6 action.

The game had a little bit of everything but in the end, the third seeded Lady Mounties outscored the Trojans 6-5.

The game would not be decided until the bottom of the sixth.

Picking up the win was Kylie Adams as she came in in relief for teammate Kam Harris.

Taking the loss was Karrigan Woodward.

Jordan McDonald led the way offensively as she went 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Teammate Roselyn Weaver finished with a 2-for-3 outing, pacing the Lady Mounties.

Mount Union was led by Kadyn Crisswell who posted a 3-for-4 afternoon with 2 runs and an RBI.

Morgan Brumbaugh notched a 2-for-4 showing with four RBIs and a run.

The Trojans notched a run in the first, taking an early lead.

But the momentum changed in the bottom of the inning as they plated three.

In the fourth, the Mounties added to its lead as they produced a 2-run inning, making it a 5-1 contest.

But the Lady Trojans refused to go quietly into the night as they rallied back to tie the game at five in the fifth.

But the home team would get the last laugh as they added a run in the sixth and held on from there.

With the win, the Lady Mounties will play Bald Eagle Area for the third time on the season on Thursday afternoon at BEA at 4:00.
