Iowa and Penn State Share Big Ten Wrestling Dual Meet Championship

Hawkeyes and Nittany Lions both finish with perfect 9-0 conference record

 

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Iowa and Penn State each earned a share of the Big Ten Wrestling Dual Meet Championship after both schools posted victories Sunday afternoon in their regular-season conference finales. Both the Hawkeyes and the Nittany Lions finished with a 9-0 conference record.

The regular season conference title marks the ninth in the past 12 years for the Hawkeyes. Iowa heads into its Oklahoma State dual next week at 14-0 overall.

The Hawkeyes claimed nine bouts against the Badgers, with wins from Spencer Lee (125), Austin DeSanto (133), Vince Turk (141), Pat Lugo (149), Kaleb Young (157), Alex Marinelli (165), Mitch Bowman (174), Cash Wilcke (184) and Jacob Warner (197).

 

The regular-season conference title marks the sixth in the last eight years for Penn State. The Nittany Lions head into their final dual of the season against the University at Buffalo with a 13-0 record overall.

 

The Nittany Lions claimed eight bouts against the Fighting Illini, with wins from Scott Stossel (133), Nick Lee (141), Brady Berge (149), Jason Nolf (157), Vincenzo Joseph (165), Mark Hall (174), Bo Nickal (197) and Anthony Cassar (285).

The 2019 Big Ten Wrestling Championships will be held from March 9-10 at Williams Arena in Minneapolis.
