State College Girls top Young MC squad

The young Mifflin County girls basketball team battled throughout their contest Friday night against a very veteran State College team. 

The two even scored the same amount of points in the second half, 19.

However, the Little Lions got hot early on by posting 26 while the Lady Huskies only managed 11. 

Leading the way for Mifflin County was Molly Wagoner’s 11-point effort.

State College got a top scoring performance from Maya Bokunewicz with a game-high 15 points.

Teammate Caitlyn Brannon finished with 12 in the victory.

In the first quarter, the State College defense held the visitors to only three points while its offense posted nine.

The Lady Little Lions added 17 in the the second, six of those coming from Bokunewicz.

Mifflin County scored eight. The Lady Huskies got triples from Hanna Rittenhouse and Hannah Aumiller. Rounding out the scoring was Wagner with a field goal.

When the two teams went into the intermission, State College held a 26-11 advantage.

Coming out in the third, the two went toe-to-toe as Mifflin County took the third quarter, outscoring State College 11-5. 

Leading the comeback attempt was  a 5-point period by Wagoner. State was paced by Kelsey Love with three.

But State College clamped down in the final period, outscoring Mifflin County 14-8 to take home the win.
