STATE COLLEGE – Coming into Monday night meeting, the two Mid-Penn rivals had both came off strong invitational performances.

But the night was a tale of two different teams as the grisly veteran State College went up against a young and feisty team of Mifflin County.

The Little Lions, who are running roughshot through their league, had itself primed and ready for anything in their match against the Huskies. State College was up for the challenge as they took care of Mifflin County 25-7, 25-7,25-5.

The Huskies looked good early on but they were hurting themselves early on with unforced errors.

But the Huskies gave their all and never gave up.

State College seemed unphased through the entire contest as they seemed to get better as the game wore on.

In the first game, the Little Lions broke out to an early 5-1 advantage thanks to two service points by Jess Irwin.

After a Mifflin County side out, State Went on another run. This time it would be Erin Lutz would show her talents from the service line as she collected three points.

The Huskies were not able to get any service points in the opening game.

After holding 19-7 advantage, Leah Henderson finished off the scoring as she ran off six-consecutive service points to end it at 25-7.

It was deja vue all over again in the second game, as the Little Lions built up an early lead and never looked back in that one as well, winning it 25-7.

“I think we beat ourselves up all the time. It’s something the girls can’t jump out of,” said Mifflin County coach Krystena Mayo said. “State College is always a stacked team and they always have and were not . It’s just something we are going to have to live with. We are a small team in the Mid-Penn. We are not a built up program like these other big teams. We don’t have the numbers like everyone does. So I don’t think it’s all my it’State College, we’re defeated i think it’s we are going to make our own mistakes and not catch up to it.”

State College had it’s A-game going and looked tough until the very end as they took home the 3-0 victory with a final game score of 25-5. It would be a game the Little Lions would go to its bench to give their kids some valuable playing time.

“It’s very important we do the right things all the time, not just when we feel like it. You never want injuries but they can happen so everybody needs to step up,” State College coach Chad Weight said. “They need to be ready to go. We have a solid core of eight or nine kids that play on a regular basis. Things can happen and everyone has to step up.”
