Susquenita’s strong second half tops EJ field hockey 5-2

The Susquenita field hockey team battled against East Juniata Monday, taking a 5-2 victory.

In the First Half, Susquenita’s Regan Horting  got the scoring going off of an assist by Haily Sherman at 27:50,.

Alexis Kauffman followed with a goal and an assist by Mia Taube at 21:54, making it 2-0.

Horting upped it once again with a goal with 15:53left.

East Juniata’s Karah Goss notched their first goal with an assist from Corrine Ames at 3:51.

Kyli Dowling cut the score to 3-2 when she posted a late goal with :54 left.

“The girls played a great game today!  They kept playing until the end of the game and made it a closer game than our first game against Susquenita,” said East Juniata Coach Harley Straub. “The girls were aggressive, and worked as a team.  We still have to work as a team for the entire game, but it was better this game than it has been.  We need to work on more passing and following shots, but overall, the girls played a great game.”

In the Second Half,  Horting notched the hat trick thanks to a pass from Katie Sands at 10:34.

Teammate Kauffman officially put the game out of reach with an assist by Haley Brenny at 3:40.

Susquenita had outshot the Tigers 23-13 and in corners at 14-4.

East Juniata goalie Emily Carolus had 18 saves while Kendra Masser & Cassy Martin combined for 11.

In the JV Game Susquenita took the contest 4-1.

EJ’s Overall record is 0-11-1, and a TVL League record of 0-7.  

The Tigers next game is tomorrow, Tuesday 10/01, when we host Newport at 4:00 p.m.
