Tuesday’s Action: Belleville outlasts Strodes 2 in softball scoring spree

GRANVILLE – As the race to a Minor League Softball Super Series title gets closer, the action heated up.
Tuesday, Belleville had the hot bats opening up to an 8-2 advantage going into the bottom of the second against a tough Strodes 2 team en route to the 18-14 victory.
Both teams fought tough to the very end.
In the first, Belleville got off and running when Alaina Sharp and teammate Raechel Saldobehere walked, putting runners on first and second.
Sarah Peachey’s RBI single scored Sharp on the play and allowed Saldobehere to third.
Both later scored via a 2-RBI single by Amanda Peachey.
Strodes 2 rallied back in their part of the inning, picking up two runs of its own.
Allie Wert opened their part of the first with a walk as well as did Elizabeth Emel and Hailey Seby, loading the bases. Brenna Alexander walked in the first run while Makenna Spickler bounced into an RBI fielders choice, making it 3-2 going into the second.
Belleville made the most of its second inning as its bats helped post five runs to extend its lead to 8-2.
With some breathing room.
Chloe Hale got the ball rolling with a walk as did Jocelyn Byler and Katelyn Yoder.
With the bases loaded, Sharp, Saldobehere, Sarah Peachey, Raina Minor and Juliana Hartzler all came through with RBI singles, when the dust settled Belleville led by six.
Defensively, Belleville held strong in the bottom of the inning, taking the 8-2 lead into the third.
The deficit was made a little larger in the third when Belleville Added two more runs to go up by eight.
But the Strodes players weren’t going to give up without a fight, posting a two run third, highlighted by an Emel double and clutch hits by Williamson and Alexander, making it 10-4 heading into the final three innings.
Building up a nine-run lead going into the fourth, Strodes mills rallied back to make it 18-14 by the end of the contest.
