TVL boys and girls All-Stars are announced
The TVL boys and girls basketball all-stars for the 2018-19 season were recently announced. Here are the following.
The wrestling all-stars will be issued after the state individual championships.
Boys Basketball –
Aaron Morder, Greenwood; Nathan Blasick, Halifax; Bryson Clark, Juniata; and Connor Zimmerman, Millersburg – are all three time all-stars.
Macklin Ayers, Upper Dauphin, Dylan Wells, Halifax; and Breven Derk, Line Mountain are two time all-stars.
MVP – Nathan Blasick, Junior, Halifax
All TVL stats only – Nathan led the in scoring with 315 points (19.7 ppg) and rebounding (155), sixth in assists (53), fourth in steals (44), tenth in blocks (9), seventh in 3 Pt FG % (38.9%), eighth in FT% (73.9%). Nathan also eclipsed the 1000 point plateau this season.
COY – Will Sagle, Halifax – This is Coach Sagle’s third straight COY for boys basketball. The team had a 16-0 league record and a 19-3 regular season record. Halifax has won back to back district titles in 2017 and 2018 under Coach Sagle. Halifax is the 1 seed in 1A in District 3. Halifax led the league in scoring with 67.1 ppg.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
As you will see the girls all-stars are dominated by underclassmen (8 of 10).
Kenedy Stroup, Greenwood; Montana Paul, Halifax; Haily Sherman, Susquenita; Madi Blyler, Susquenita; and Lea Lenker, Upper Dauphin are all two time all-stars.
MVP – Kenedy Stroup, Junior, Greenwood
All TVL stats only – Kenedy led the in scoring with 328 points (20.5 ppg), fourth in assists (60), sixth in steals (44), ninth in rebounding (114), fourth in blocks (37), ninth in 3 Pt FGM (13).
COY – Travis Quici, East Juniata – This is Coach Quici third COY since he has been coaching at East Juniata. East Juniata had an 11-5 league record and 16-6 overall in the regular season.
East Juniata is the 4 seed in the 3A District 4 playoffs. East Juniata led the league in scoring defense with a 30.2 ppg.
