Back on top!

Let the celebration begin for the Bald Eagle Area football team.

For the second year in a row, the Bald Eagle football team is sitting on top of the District 6 Class AAA standings.

This one was decided early as the Eagle exploded for 21-first quarter points en route to the 41-13 victory over Westmont Hilltop at Mansion Park Saturday night.

In the first, Bald Eagle’s Jaden Jones hooked up on a 23-yard TD pass completed to Kaden Bittinger for a TD, making it 7-0.

An early defensive stand led the Eagles to get the ball back.

After a big punt return, the Eagles were back in business.

Minutes later Jones hit Hayden Vaughn on a 30-yard TD reception, quickly making it a 14-0 contest.

Bald Eagle had all facets of its game going as it’s defense helped the offense get off to the strong start.

Asher Burkett’s big sack forced a second Westmont punt leading to another Bald Eagle score.

Jones was sizzling through the air as he hit his third touchdown pass and went over 100-yard passing with a 78-yard hook up to teammate Matt Reese, upping it to a 21-0 advantage.

Westmont chipped into the Eagles lead, posting a touchdown of its own, cutting it to 21-7.

On the next Bald Eagle possession, Jones again went airborne, this time hitting Reese on a 48-yard touchdown, upping the lead back up to 21 at 28-7.

With minutes to go until the intermission, Kaden Bittinger stops a Hilltoppers drive with an interception, ending the first half with his team leading 28-7.

Early in the third, the Eagles’ defense stands tall one more time, intercepting a pass, killing another Westmont drive.

Jones continued to shine hitting his fourth TD pass of the game, this time he found Bittinger on a 27-yard TD throw, adding some insurance points at 34-7.

Westmont got back on the board in the fourth but it was too little too late.

Bald Eagle added a late score, taking the contest 41-13 to capture the title.

It was a great weekend for Centre County teams as Bellefonte and State College notched wins the night before.
