Big Valley wins match up against Mifflin County in 9-10 year old action

BELLEVILLE – The long ball took center stage Friday night as the Big Valley 9-10 year olds battled against Mifflin County.
The two came into the contest undefeated but it would be Big Valley that escaped unscathed in a 12-2 run shortened contest.

Leading the way offensively was Ethan Eichhorn who blasted two home runs and plated six RBIs in the 10-run victory.

Others picking up round trippers were teammate Brycen Hassinger and Mifflin County’s Cole Schlegel.

Cody Bodtorf went the distance allowing two runs and two hits en route to the victory.

After sending Mifflin County down in order in the first inning, Big Valley’s offense exploded for four runs in the bottom of the opening inning.

In the first, Marshall Maidens got the game off and running as he blasted a lead off double. Botorf helped his cause laying down a picture perfect bunt, putting runners on first and second.

Eichenhorn stepped to the plated and sent one deep deep into left centerfield, putting the home team up 3-0.

With two out, Hassinger added a homer of his own, giving Big Valley a 4-0 lead going into the second inning.

Mifflin County bounced right back in the top of the second, cutting the Big Valley Lead in half.

Ben Yetter reached on a one-out walk, setting the stage for Cole Schlegel. Schlegel did not disappoint as he sent went one above and beyond the centerfield fence, making it 4-2 as the game went into the bottom of the second.

In the second the team from Big Valley added three more runs, highlighted by an Eichhorn RBI single, extending the home teams lead to 7-2.

Big Valley wasn’t done yet as they went and exploded for six more runs in the bottom of the third on a walk by Ryan Esh, a single by Maidens and a 2-RBI single by Bodtorf. Eichhorn sealed the deal with his second home run smash of the game and finally a

Kaden Miliron single. Miliron later scored the last run on a Mifflin County miscue.
