Bulldog Midgets dominate East Juniata

The Burnham Bulldogs Midget football team showed that it is going to be a force to be reckoned with this season as it had its offense and defense charging on all cylinders as thy defeated East Juniata 40-7 at the Dog Pound in Burnham.

From beginning to end, the Bulldogs looked sharp as it created numerous turnovers and miscues on East Juniata’s side.

Burnham opened the contest with the ball and delivered a score immediately going on a 9-play drive that culminated in a touchdown.

East Juniata hung tough on the extra point attempt, keeping it to a 6-0 Bulldog lead.

However, Burnham kick an insides kick and it bounced off of a Tiger player and into the arms of the Bulldogs, giving the home team the ball right back.

Starting at the Tigers’ 25, the Bulldogs scored on a 4-play drive this time and also connected on the 2-point conversion, upping it to a 14-0 lead with 4:19 left in the opening period.

On the Tigers opening offensive drive, East Juniata has some strong plays but were forced into a fourth down situation.

Then trouble struck as the center launched the ball over the punters head and gave up the ball on downs with Burnham taking over at the Tigers’ 11.

It took just one play for Burnham to convert it into a touchdown and a 20-0 lead.

In the beginning of the third, the East Juniata held tough on a Burnham offensive drive, stopping them on a fourth and one, taking the ball at the one to start their offensive drive.

This time it was Burnham’s turn to have a strong defensive play, forcing the Tigers to give up safety as it added to its lead, making it 22-0.

Both defenses held the other in check for the rest of the half as Burnham held the 22-point advantage heading into the intermission.

East Juniata broke out in the third for its only score of the game on a long run, making it 22-7.

From there, the Bulldogs offense went to work again, outscoring East Juniata 18-0 down the stretch en route to the victory.
