Challenging day beneficial day for Juniata runners

Carlisle – The Juniata Cross Country team had to compete in some tough conditions at the Carlisle Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, September 29.  The course was nothing but mud with all the rain in the past several weeks along with three streams crossings on the 5k course.  Garrett Baublitz led the Indians with 11th place in the Challenge boys race with a time of 16:14.  Baublitz was the only Indian to run in the challenge boys race.
Clay Yeager led the Indians in the Champions race placing 177th in a time of 18:50.  He was followed by:
228th Albert Heister 19:16
283rd Isaak Fausey 19:44
298th James Hazard 19:53
311th Yadiel Nieves-Aguirre 19:59
335th Brody Powell 20:10
The boys placed 49th out of 60 teams in that race.
In the boys freshman race, Micah Fausey led the Indians in 101st place with a time of 20:12.  He was followed by Noah Sheaffer placing 261st with a time of 24:14 and Kaleb Louder placed 304th with a time of 29:50.
The only girl competing for the Indians was Katrina Weber.  She finished in 492nd place with a of 35:56 in the JV girls race.
Coach Jeff Miller was hoping that a lot of his athletes could run personal best, but the conditions of the course made it nearly impossible.  Micah Fausey and Yadiel Nieves-Aguirre were the only runners who were able to run personal best for the day.
