Day 2 of D6 swimming posts numerous Centre County state qualifiers

Day 2 of District 6 swimming has come and gone and the State College swim team once again loaded the day with more district qualifiers.

Bellefonte’s Zoey Cole earned another state qualifying nod as she took her second win and broke another new school record  in the 500-yard Freestyle.

The day would also include St. Joseph and other teams making the “Big Show”. 

The Wolves’ Garrett Gall took the top spot in the AA boys 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.78.

The Wolves also advanced Reece Bloom in the 500-freestyle with a time of 5:00.82. Bellefonte’s Harrison Horner placed second with a 5:02.79.

State College teammates Abbey Whipple and Matt Brownstead qualified for states as they took home the top spots in the AAA girls and boys 100-yard freestyle with times of 53.37 and 44.53.

With the time of 44.53, Brownstead set a new meet record in the process.

In the AA 100 Freestyle, Bellefonte’s Natasha Hoffman picked up a third place medal with a time of 56.10. 

State College also took the 500-freestyle.

In the one of the closest finishes of the day the Little Lions girls got a a first and second place with record times from Colleen Adams and Megan Doucette as they posted a meet record of 5:07.35 and 5:07.43.

Anderson Sonsteby led the way for State with a time of 4:51.23.

Lily Bang topped the first place level in the 100-yard backstroke as the Little Lions freshman finished with a state qualifying time of 1:02.07.

On the boys’ side of the AAA 100- backstroke State College’s Noah Witt finished in the top spot of 1:00.17.

Things continued to soar for State College as Madelyn Koehle moved on with a time of 1:06.48 in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Teammate Foster Heasley took the top spot in the boys’ side advancing with a time of 57.68.

The Little Lions girls 400-yard freestyle medley relay took first with a time of 3:37.20.

Also moving on was the State College boys in the 400-relay. 

Rounding things out was Bellefonte’s Natasha Hoffman medaled with a second place in the AA 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:11.96.

After the last lap of the meet was swam, the list of Centre County State Qualifiers were long and impressive.

Next, Onward to Bucknell University and the PIAA State Championships.
