Huskies volleyball gives Chambersburg all the could handle; falls 3-1

LEWISTOWN – Final scores can sometimes be deceiving.

Thursday night the Chambersburg Volleyball team on paper defeated Mifflin County 3-1.

the Trojans won 25-8,23-25,25-17,25-16 on the night.

Mifflin County’s team effort was evident as the group never gave up and battled to the bitter end.

“We haven’t seen Chambersburg yet, they are usually a pretty big team, so I told them coming to just fight for it and fight for last couple matches,” Mifflin County coach Krystena Mayo said. “They didn’t give up on themselves and that’s one of the biggest things I saw tonight. Once they started to get in the groove and get in our rhythm we were able to produce some numbers up there and come together as a team.”

After falling in the first set 25-8, the Huskies came in the second game with a new attitude and cane ready for action when the two teams lined up for action.

Mifflin County went toe-to-toe with Chambersburg as both tied the contest nine times.

With the game tied at seven, it looked like the Trojans would make another strong run.

Chambersburg’s Robyn Stepler pounded out three consecutive points, putting them ahead of Mifflin County 10-7.

After an exchange of side outs, the Trojans were back at it to add to the lead.

The visitors were able to take a 14-8 advantage thanks to the serving of Taylor Myers.

Surrender was not in the Huskies vocabulary as they went on a scoring streak of their own.

It was a battle the rest of the way but Mifflin County was able to counter with every move the Trojans made.
