Juniata holds off East Juniata boys in nail biting fashion

Another game, another edition to the rivalry that is East Juniata versus rival Juniata in sports action.

Friday night, the boys basketball teams added quite the exciting chapter to its long history as the game came down to the final seconds before being decided.

A Bryson Clark free throw proved to be the game winner as the Indians defeated the Tigers 39-38 at East Juniata high school.

Tylor Gomez led the way offensively as he posted a 14-point effort.

Devon Nealman just missed a double-digit finish scoring nine.

East Juniata got a 14-point effort from Wayne Dressler.

He was the lone Tiger in double digits.

In the fourth quarter, East Juniata And Juniata found themselves tied at 27.

Gomez was the shining star for Juniata in the period as he had his best quarter of the game, posting nine of his 14 points. Jacob Condo had a field goal.

Nick Pillot posted the most points for his team as he scored five while teammate Xavier Clement had four.

 But it came down to Clark’s foul shots. After being fouled on a shot, Clark stepped up to the line.

He missed the first bucket but made his second attempt, putting his team ahead by one with seconds remaining.

After some intense moments on both ends, Juniata came out victorious.

Both teams opened the game by scoring eight, starting the second with a tie game.

East Juniata took the lead at the intermission as it outscored Juniata 11-7.

When the two went into the intermission, the Tigers held a 19-15 advantage.

But coming out in the third quarter, the Indians fought back to tie things at 27.

That would set the scene for the nail biting fourth quarter.
