Lady Indians post senior night victory

It was a senior night delight at Juniata high school Wednesday night.

The Juniata girls basketball team honored its senior class with a 48-40 hard earned victory over Halifax in Tri-Valley League action.

Leading the way offensively for the Lady Indians was Chloe Zendt with 15 points.

Teammate Mya Rush chipped in with 14 in the victory.

Halifax was led by Hollie Long with 11.

In the first period, both teams tried to set its own tempo for the game and in the end the two tied things at eight each.

Halifax rallies in the second quarter as it outscored Juniata 12-7.

When the two went into the intermission, Halifax held a 20-13 advantage.

However, Juniata wasn’t going to go down with out a fight and they came out of the halftime ready to turn the game around.

Though they only outscored Halifax 12-8, the Indian closed the gap to 28-25 as the teams went into the final stanza.

The Lady Indians offense exploded in the fourth, posting a 21-point effort while its defense held Halifax to 12.

Leading the charge in the period was Rush’s 8-point performance. 

In the end, Juniata did not leave its fans down as it went onto the 8-point victory.
