Lady Red Raiders played hardball but couldn’t come back from sizzling shooting of Tyrone

Final Score: Tyrone 67, Bellefonte 41

Sometimes you just come up against a very hot team and it’s hard to overcome.

Wednesday, the scrappy Bellefonte girls basketball team went up against a sizzling Tyrone team, falling 67-41.

“Our girls played well but Tyrone just hit a ton of shots. They are a great shooting team and they were on tonight,” said Bellefonte coach Marcus Toomer.

Leading the way for the Lady Raiders were Mel Smith with nine and Mia Johnson with seven.

In the first, the Eagles came out firing on all cylinders taking a 19-14 advantage going into the second quarter.

In the second, the Eagles extended its lead to 35-24 at the half.

The hot shooting continued in the second half for Tyrone as they outscored 17-6.

There would be no comeback attempt on this day as Bellefonte fell 67-35.
