Mangene Sets Record as Saint Joseph’s Secures Conference Championship

A great way to end the season.

The St. Joseph’s boys basketball ended their season with not only a win over Harrisburg Academy but also with a little bit of history to go with it.

Jack Mangene’s layup midway through the first quarter was enough to give him his 1000th career point, becoming only the second player in school history to accomplish this feat.  Mangene’s 19 points gave him a career total of 1,013 for his career, a new school record.

“Jack’s intensity ignites our team.  He plays all out, every second he is on the floor and gives everything he has for his teammates,” said St. Joseph’s Head Coach Richard Ciambotti. “His dedication and perseverance are inspiring and we are so proud of Jack for accomplishing this tremendous feat.”

The Wolves raced out to a 55-22 halftime lead over Harrisburg Academy and never looked back.  Cameron Khoza scored 14 for the Wolves.  Brendan Scanlon added 10 and Aidan Cross and Matt Steyers chipped in 8 a piece to round out the leading scorers for Saint Joe’s.

Saint Joseph’s finished the conference season undefeated and claimed their fourth championship in five seasons.

The Wolves record stands at 18-4.  SJCA will begin district playoffs on Friday as they play host to the winner of #3 Juniata Valley and #6 Williamsburg.
