The Juniata Cross Country team had great performances at the PIAA Foundation Invitational held in Hershey on Saturday, September 23.
Leading the boys was Garrett Baublitz.  He finished the 3.1 mile course in 16:26 which was good enough for 3rd place overall in the varsity AA race.  Coach Jeff Miller was very pleased with Baublitz’s performance.  “He dropped :27 from his time at this Invitational last year.  It is a confidence booster for him.  He is always looking to getting better.”  Coach Miller was very pleased with his varsity boys.  “We had kids dropping 2:00-3:00 from this race last year.  The boys finished 14th out of 36 teams in the AA race.  Other varsity boy finishers were:
72nd Clay Yeager 18:37
106st Albert Heister 19:12
110th James Hazard 19:14
154th Brody Powell 20:01
161st Zeb Ames 20:12
192nd Micah Fausey 21:08
In the girls AA race freshman Emily Houtz led the Indians in 88th place with a time of 22:59.  Coach Miller said “This was Emily’s first time running this course and it will be real valuable for her in the future”.  She got to see just how difficult this course is.  Sydney Houtz finished in 176st place with a time of 25:15 and Katrina Weber was the only other finisher for the Indians finishing in 36:38 good enough for 224th place.  The girls varsity did not have enough runners to compete in the team competition.
Isaak Fausey led the boys in the JV race finishing in 19:56good enough for 81st.  Other boy finishers in the JV race were:
101st Yadiel Nieves-Aguirre 20:12
175th Noah Sheaffer 23:57
184th Kyle Louder 24:51
188th Kaleb Louder 29:37
Coach Miller was very pleased with his JV runners.  We had personal best times by 2:00-3:00 on this difficult course.  Isaak didn’t have a personal best, but he dropped 3:15 off his time from last year on this course.  The Indians cross country team will head to the Carlisle Cross Country Invitational on September 29 at Carlisle High School.
