The Lady Raiders say IT’S ON!!!

BELLEFONTE – Thursday night the Bellefonte girls’ softball team showed that hard work and perseverance does payoff.

The Lady Raiders and Hollidaysburg faced off in search of a victory, a victory that would advance them into the next round of the District 6 Class AAA playoffs.

After a long and intense game, Bellefonte was able to pull it off, narrowing winning over the Lady Tigers 3-2.

Hollidaysburg quickly got the game started as their lead off hitter roped a solid double that bounced behind second base. She later stole home, plating the first run of the night.

However, they wouldn’t hold the lead for long as Bellefonte rallied back.

Tara Baney hit a deep triple into right and later scored, knotting the game at one after one.

Bellefonte kept the ball rolling as they posted more runs. Shortstop Stevi Confer smoked a screaming double in the second and fourth innings. In both, she was able to reach home, upping the Lady Raiders score to 3-1 by the end of the fourth.

Hollidaysburg tried to rally back through the top of the fifth, rallying for just one run and falling short in the contest, 3-2.

Bellefonte’s defense would limit the Golden Tigers to just two runs en route to pulling off the one run victory.

With the win, the Lady Raiders will advance to the next round of the post season.
