Unrivaled Band Jam To Be Held in Conjunction with UMass Football Game on Sept. 20

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; August 28, 2014 – Penn State Athletics and the Penn State Marching Blue Band are proud to announce the Unrivaled Band Jam, which will highlight “Band Day” activities at the Penn State vs. Massachusetts game on Sept. 20. High school bands are invited to perform with the storied Blue Band and the UMass band pregame in the Bryce Jordan Center for a one-of-a-kind performance experience. The Unrivaled Band Jam will be held approximately two hours prior to kick-off. A kick-off time for the game has not yet been determined.

 

“The Blue Band looks forward to combining with the UMass Minuteman Band and high school bands from Pennsylvania to add to the gameday experience for Nittany Lion fans on September 20,” said Dr. O. Richard Bundy, Director of the Penn State Marching Blue Band.

 

Any high school bands interested must sign up in advance by calling 1-800-NITTANY during business hours (8 a.m.-5 p.m. ET, Monday-Friday). The deadline to register is September 5. Special pricing is available for qualified group outings of 20 or more and 50 or more. Other group benefits may include videoboard recognition of your group during the game on our new HD displays, a post-game picture on the field of your group, and preferred parking.

 

Penn State returns 40 letterwinners and 15 starters (7 offense, 7 defense, 1 specialist) for the upcoming season and will play a trio of 2013 Top 10 teams this fall. The Nittany Lions will host Rose Bowl Champion Michigan State (Nov. 29), Ohio State (Oct. 25, 8 p.m.), Northwestern (Sept. 27-Homecoming, 12 p.m.) and Maryland (Nov. 1) during its 2014 Big Ten home schedule. Penn State will host Akron (Sept. 6), UMass (Sept. 20) and Temple (Nov. 15) during its non-conference slate.
