Washington and Courtney Lead USA Volleyball to VNL Title

Washington named Best Blocker and Courtney selected Best Libero
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State volleyball alumsHaleigh Washington and Megan Courtney helped the U.S. Women’s Volleyball National Team to its second-straight Volleyball Nations League (VNL). The pair also claimed individual honors in the tournament with Washington being named the Best Blocker and Courtney earning Best Libero honors.
In Sunday’s championship match, the United States needed a comeback after dropping the first two sets to Brazil (20-25, 22-25). The U.S. found a groove in the third set with a 25-15 win and evened the match with a 25-21 victory in the fourth set before earning a 15-13 win to clinch the match in the fifth set. Washington had eight kills on 13 swings and two blocks for 10 points, while Courtney added 18 digs.
Washington tallied 10 block points in four matches in the finals rounds, while Courtney finished the tournament with 53 digs in four matches.
